This is a Longines Gent’s wristwatch which has the very highly regarded 12.68Z manual winding movement which is the same that was used shortly after this in the “Greenlander” Longines Military watches that form part of the “Dirty Dozen” set. The movement is in great condition for a 1930’s watch and its keeping decent time considering its not been serviced, certainly within a couple minutes a day and constant, the dial is the original and shows some age but overall its super nice with the original hand set as well. The case has the correct Longines numbers, its number will be recorded with Longines in the Archive. This model of screw back and front steel case with the classic Longines Swivel lugs is not something I have seen many times before, they are almost common in Silver but made from steel its very rare to find. The movement winds smoothly and seems to be keeping good time considering we have not had the watch serviced, its been checked over but other than a visual inspection its not been messed with, its exactly as found & bought. The watch has a wonderful contemporary inscription on the back where it was given in 1936 at Christmas by a company and the serial number of the watch movement gives a production of about 1930-1932 so all as it should be there, I have not researched the name of the owner or the company but in the late 1930’s most men soon got involved in WW2 in one capacity or another and can be traced. It has a tiny dent to the side under the inscription that we have tried to show but its not obvious unless your looking for flaws, given the watch is 90 years old I feel its in remarkable shape.
