Motherboard only Includes M.2 NVMe slot. Supports dual channel memory if the chips are populated in the order shown on the last picture. Supports ECC RAM PCI-E 3.0 Things to Note: – Does NOT support triple or quad channel memory. – We are aware that “real” X79 chipsets only support single socket configurations. Upon removing the chipset heatsink, we discovered the actual chipset of this motherboard is a C604. C604 is a server-grade chipset meant for dual socket configurations of LGA2011. However, since X79 and C600 series chipsets support the same socket type and CPUs, the Chinese marketing for “Dual X79” still stands and is effective enough. Much thanks in advance for understanding : ) The official name of the chipset we discovered is “BD82C604,” which according to this source (https://www.arrow.com/en/products/bd82c604sljkj/intel) is considered an “X79 Express Chipset” and is a genuine Intel chipset! – Please note that the motherboard does not seem to have any software sensors for VRM or chipset temperatures (ie, wont show up in HWinfo and the like). Under stress testing in CPU-Z at 100% load with 2 Xeon E5-2670s for longer than 20 minutes, we found, using an infrared thermometer gun, that the VRM temperatures do not exceed 75 C and the chipset temperature does not exceed 50 C, which are well within good operating temperature. – This is an ATX motherboard, although it tends to run a bit wider than most ATX motherboards, so please consider whether your case has enough lateral room to fit this board. We recommend either a fairly big case, or just using an open bench. Troubleshooting notes / FAQ : Q: I have only one CPU, which socket is the “main” socket? Which RAM slots should I use? Use the socket farther from the I/O ports of the board if you are only using 1 CPU. Also, use the 2 RAM slots right below it (when looking at the board such that the sockets are at the top), closer to the SATA ports. Q: I have all RAM slots populated and it only shows Dual Channel! Why? A:Unfortunately, as stated near the top of the description, this motherboard does not support more than dual channel memory, even though the LGA2011 platform should support up to quad channel. If your workloads really need that quad channel memory performance, consider another motherboard. A good rule of thumb when looking for a motherboard that supports quad channel memory is to look for 8 RAM slots. Q: No POST! Black screen! A:- Confirm that a dedicated GPU is properly inserted into one of the PCI-E x16 slots of the board, and that it is receiving power and connected to a display. This board does NOT have an integrated GPU, so a dedicated graphics card is necessary. – Check all RAM sticks for any faulty RAM or for any faulty RAM slots. Reseat your RAM (Always confirm that your board is turned off and not receiving any power before doing so)- Check that all power cables are properly connected to the motherboard:This motherboard comes with TWO CPU 8-pin power connectors, one for each CPU. If you are only using one CPU, use the socket farther from the I/O panel on the board and its associated power connector. If your PSU only has one CPU power connector, consider purchasing a Molex to 8-pin CPU power adapter. Please note that the CPU 8-pin power is not to be confused with PCI-E power, so be cautious when purchasing this adapter. Also confirm that the main 24-pin ATX power is connected.- Remove one or both CPUs from their sockets and inspect for any bent pins. Sometimes pins get bent, and such is life. You can try to bend them back yourself using sharp tools and a magnifying glass. It is possible, and not as hard as it seems.- Try clearing the CMOS. See “How can I clear the CMOS (saved BIOS settings) on this motherboard?” for more info Q: Cannot boot past BIOS A: Enter the BIOS setup using the Delete key. Navigate to the Boot tab. There should be an option called “CSM Parameters” at the bottomIn the CSM Parameters menu, confirm that “Launch CSM” is Enabled. Then, try toggling the different options for “Boot option filter”By default, it is set to “UEFI and Legacy,” although sometimes switching to “UEFI only” or “Legacy only” may help you boot into your hard disk, depending on the way that your boot drive is set up. Be careful about touching any other options, which may prevent a display from showing. If you think you messed something up, see the instructions for Clearing the CMOS, which should reset all BIOS options you set. Q: How can I clear the CMOS (saved BIOS settings) on this motherboard? A:As far as we can tell, this motherboard does not have a dedicated clear cmos button, switch, or jumper. That means the CMOS needs to be cleared the old fashioned way: confirming that no power is running through the motherboard, removing the CMOS battery (you do have one installed right? Sometimes we forget to include a CMOS battery with the motherboard. We get these shipped from China and they aren’t allowed to ship batteries overseas), then using an electrically conductive object like the tip of a screwdriver to short the connection points of the battery slot. There are many tutorials about this type of thing on youtube. Try shorting that area for at least a minute before reinserting the battery and turning the motherboard back on. Sometimes, it may help to try to turn the motherboard on without the battery. Resetting the CMOS can be a finicky thing that is different on every board. Q: I still have some kind of issue!
