Large handmade vintage Egermann “Red Stained” Czech glass bowl: ~ Rare item to find in great condition ~ After proudly producing handmade glassware for over 200 years – their website states the factory has unfortunately closed permanently. The items that can be found now are bound to increases in value and collectibility, especially the ones in nice shape ~ Ruby red cut to clear glass – proudly called “Red Staining” that they are famous for ~ Covered with iconic traditional Czechoslovakian precision designs that are each their own little vignettes or scene – but flow seamlessly – running elk with large antlers, gazebo, bird in flight above a fence, and a stately home or church ~ Accent swirls and flourishes add that perfect bohemian touch ~ Round in shape with elegant flared, footed profile Ready and waiting for your enjoyment, use, display, collection or gift giving – you will love this! AGE OR ERA: True vintage item – judging by the sticker alone – modern vintage in era – 1990’s in age. Like pieces have been lovingly hand made since the early 1800’s – but the area was not called the Czech Republic until 1993. MARKINGS: Gold foil sticker reads – Egermann CZECH REPUBLIC METAL / MATERIAL: Clear glass with cased and etched ruby red outer layer CLASP / CLOSURE: x MEASUREMENTS: Round in shape and gently fluting profile – aprox 10″ diameter across the top and footed bottom pedestal closer to 3″ in diameter. 4.25″ tall WEIGHT: x TESTING: x U.S. RING SIZE: x ANECDOTAL, METAPHYSICAL, HISTORY &/or LORE: “The Egermann Company, dating back to the early 1800’s, specializes in hand decorated glass with each piece posing a decorative and highly art oriented character. Egermann’s main claim to fame is its invention in 1832 of a process called “red staining” in where the dark ruby red colouring on each piece’s surface is decorated by baroque patterns using cutting and engraving processes. Egermann is the world’s premier manufacturer of the “red staining” process. The Egermann company specializes entirely in the production of hand-decorated glass products. The products are utilitarian, decorative as well as highly artistic. A factory tour is also available, presenting showing how utility glassware is made by hand.The company Egermann is situated in the scenic city of Novy Bor in the beautiful area of Northern Bohemia, Czech Republic. The name of the company comes from the famous glass technologist and glass painter, Friedrich Egermann, born in 1777 in North Bohemia, learned the art of painting as an apprentice in Meissen, German.
