Not a modern item that looks initialed. Original Owner 23 Years on e-bay- 1,300+ Positive Feedbacks — Shop with confidence Wilson Sporting Goods was the 1st Michael Jordan endorsement after Nike– MJ’s agent David Falk. Reported in Sports Illustrated December 10, 1984–“A Star is Born” first MJ SI pro-cover; Michael Jordan signed with Wilson Sporting Goods. That puts the signed Wilson Sporting Goods contract signed between October 25, 1984 and December 10, 1984. It was a contract worth an estimated $200,000 per year with Michael Jordan having an equity stake in sales. Sound familiar? It should because it’s a similar contract to the ground breaking Nike contract. The new Wilson Air Attack signature Michael Jordan basketball would even have the same matching red and black color scheme as the new Nike Air Jordan 1 worn by Michael his rookie season. The original Air Attack basketball was released in 1985. Its hard to believe this original Wilson sporting goods photo was taken in 1986 when Michael Jordan signed a highly lucrative contract in 1984 with a 71 year old company located in Chicago. For this photo to be 1986 you would have to believe that it took 13+ months for Michael Jordan to agree on a photo shoot with his 2nd most lucrative endorsement. A Wilson photo promo being taken between MJ’s 1985 rookie season to the 1985 off season seems more likely to me, but please draw your own conclusion. Remember PSA has labeled this 1985-1986. I think that’s fair, my opinion is: 1985 photo with a known 1986 signature. Research newspapers.com. All Charlotte, NC local newspapers from 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987 only shows 1 Michael Jordan Wilson Sporting Goods autograph appearance. The May 10, 1986 signing at Sports Station USA. On that day most people brought something for MJ to sign. If you had nothing for MJ to sign, then you would get this table provided Wilson promotional photo. Its North Carolina. Michael Jordan was/is a local hero and seemingly everyone had a magazine, basketball, Tar-Heel photo, hat. It was 1986, UNC jerseys were not available for sale then. I don’t even remember NBA jerseys anywhere for sale in Charlotte. ACC basketball ruled and the NBA wasn’t on Live TV everyday. Michael Jordan didn’t even have to stay the fully scheduled 2 hours. He sat with 2-3 friends he brought with him, sipped on “New Coke” and politely signed autographs. No photos were taken with fans. Selfies didn’t exist, cameras were not carried everyday + real photos were fairly expensive then. Autograph: Signed original autograph was obtained in person on May 10, 1986. I was 2-3 hours early and first in line. MJ’s signature looks as good as it does on his 1984 Nike legal contract. Just google the image and see for yourself. PSA grading this early autograph an 8 is total ________. I see many modern MJ autos given a 10 that look like M–scribble, JO–straight line. Basically initials. You might be able to read 2-4 letters and they give those 10’s. Look at signature and please judge grade for yourself. Michael Jordan is never gonna sit at a table and sign for the public like this again. You can see every letter except the A & N. Opinion– This is a better autograph than Upper Deck Authenticated. After all– No UDA 1986 autographs exist. Condition: This rare piece of Michael Jordan sports history displays very well and should always display well. Just leave it out of the sunlight. That being said. The photograph is not brand new. Front of photograph has a pin hole from being hung on a caulk board. Hole is at the center top. Lower left on the Wilson ball stack you will see a small to slight puncture. Picture also has some age yellowing(boarder only) and spots on the white boarder area. The rear of picture shows blotchy. This appears to be suction from the PSA encapsulation. Other PSA encapsulated 8x10s look the same exact way. This blotchy appearance is not any kind of liquid damage from the owner. Last 2 pictures of original Air Attack Ball and Recent Nike Rookie Type 1 photo sold are for reference only and those items are not included in this sale US Shipping only No Returns — Item is being sold “as is”.
