Spine:The spines of both volumes display some fading and wear but retain their gold-embossed titles and decorative bands. The edges of the spines show typical wear for books of this age, with some slight fraying at the ends. Pages:The pages are generally clean and exhibit the light toning typical of books over a century old. Some pages show minor creasing and small tears near the edges, notably at the top corners, where the paper is more fragile. However, the text remains clear and legible throughout both volumes.There is a small stain on one of the pages in Volume I, visible in the photos, which does not affect the readability of the text. Some pages also contain this stain but not many. Maps & Illustrations:This set includes several fold-out maps and illustrations, all of which are intact and in good condition.
