It’s in barely used condition! Yes, you can make your own tapes with this unit. The unit has been serviced to make sure every function works as it should. The head assembly and capstan drive was removed, cleaned and reassembled to insure free movement as dried lube is the number one problem with these old players. I kindly request that you read the full description below, which includes valuable information on what was done to this unit and about all 8 track players in general. Please view close-up pictures for cosmetic condition as there are some very small scratches on the top aluminum bezel. The sound quality is balanced and pleasing, a testament to the reputation of the Realistic brand. Without proper maintenance, these parts may dry out, lose elasticity, turn into a gooey mess, or become stiff and dirty after decades of inactivity.It is essential to ensure that the unit has been serviced by someone knowledgeable, rather than someone simply trying to make it barely functional for a quick sale.
